ART VPS does not support Lightwave. However a third-party,
Timm Dapper, produces a plug-in for Lightwave called
LightMan and he added support for PURE / RenderDrive
in version 1.1. This is not as complete a solution
as the RenderPipe interfaces. See www.td-grafik.de
for more details (click on the US / UK flag for
the English version of the web site).
No, there is no PURE / RenderDrive interface for
SoftImage. There is a plug-in called SoftMan available
from a company called Animal Logic, but you will
need to edit the shaders it produces to work with
RenderDrive / PURE and maybe edit the RIB too.
No, PURE and RenderDrive use their own renderer.
They do not run other renderers, so do not support
Mental Ray. PURE and RenderDrive use RenderMan as
their interface, RenderMan being a published scene
description language.
PURE and RenderDrive use their own renderer. They
do not run other renderers, so do not run PRMan.
However, PURE and RenderDrive do use RenderMan
as their interface, RenderMan being a published
scene description language. PRMan also uses RenderMan
as its interface - the company that develops PRMan,
Pixar, wrote and published the RenderMan specification.
Almost certainly yes! You need to use another application
to do the visualization.
ART VPS can provide recommended methods of importing
CAD or solid modelling data into 3dsmax, VIZ or
Maya. This may be using an interchange format such
as IGES or by using a third-party convertor such
as PolyTrans.
Once in 3dsmax, VIZ or Maya, you apply materials,
either from the libraries we provide or materials
you create yourself, add lights and a camera, then
render.
VIZ Render, provided with Autodesk Architectural
Desktop 2004 (ADT) isn't directly supported by PURE
and RenderDrive. You should use Autodesk VIZ 4 instead,
which provides a more comprehensive set of visualization
tools and supports a full range of third party plugins.
